How to help

Read the guidelines before you help.

Add translations.

Anything colored red requires some kind of an intervention. You can

In existing dictionaries you will find the missing words on the "words not found" page.

In not-yet-existing dictionaries you might use a word frequency list. Note that the most frequent words are hard to translate and are not particularly useful. You might do better if you limit yourself to nouns, verbs and adjectives.

Clean up translations

Over-helpful contributors might have entered too many translations for a word. From a users perspective it is better to have the two best translations than the twenty-two possible translations.

Superfluous hypernyms and hyponyms should be deleted, but before they are deleted, make sure they have an alternative translation.

Watch the change log

The "change log" lists the latest changes in the dictionary.

Vandalisms should be deleted, incomplete entries should be completed.

Classify parts-of-speech

POS classification is important for the users and for the indirect translation algorithm.

Unclassified translations can be found by searching for the empty qualifier "[]".

Sometimes it is easier to search for an ending you expect to belong to a specific word class.

Disambiguate homonyms

If you see a terrible indirect translation or an unrelated word in the related words list, most likely the culprit is an ambiguous homonym.

Suggest dictionaries for inclusion

We would like to include other dictionaries. A dictionary must satisfy certain criteria for inclusion.
